Set in a south-facing basin of the Craigieburn Range – which means it traps light powder – Mt Olympus has 60 skiable hectares with varied terrain offering challenges for all abilities, and is the gateway to some of New Zealand’s finest touring.

The field itself a proud groomer-free zone and snow conditions can vary a lot, so it’s a good idea to check them out before heading up the hill – you might need to pack your fat boys! The Top Hut lodge is up on the ski area and is available for bookings throughout the season. With a qualified chef, bunkroom-style living and hot tub, the atmosphere up at the lodge has become somewhat legendary, so make sure you get hold of a bunk!
